Elementary Program (6-12 years)

Nurturing the Growing Mind and Heart

At Montessori Greenhouse School, we deeply value the development of the whole child—nurturing not just cognitive growth, but also physical, social, and emotional well-being.

When children enter the second plane of development around age 6, their attention naturally shifts outward—from the self and family to the broader social world. Relationships with peers become central, and their capacity for abstract thinking, reasoning, and moral development begins to blossom. This is known as the Intellectual Period, a time when children are capable of great focus, imagination, and meaningful exploration.

Our Elementary Program, serving children ages 6 to 12, is designed to meet these evolving needs with:

  • An individually paced curriculum tailored to each child's academic level
  • Personalized guidance that challenges without overwhelming
  • A strong emphasis on character development, curiosity, and responsibility

Classrooms are multi-age communities that reflect the Montessori philosophy:

  • Lower Elementary (Ages 6–9) – 1st through 3rd grade
  • Upper Elementary (Ages 9–12) – 4th through 6th grade

This structure fosters natural mentorship, where older students reinforce their understanding by guiding younger peers—embracing the Montessori idea that teaching is the highest form of learning.

Each child remains with the same teacher for a full three-year cycle, allowing for deeper connections, continuity in learning, and opportunities for students to grow into leadership roles. This continuity supports not only academic growth, but a strong sense of identity and community.

Through this rich and respectful approach, our goal is not only to teach, but to guide children toward becoming compassionate, responsible, and lifelong learners who are confident in their abilities and kind in their actions.

Partnering with Parents

Building a Strong Foundation—Together

At Montessori Greenhouse School, we believe that open, consistent communication is the key to forming a strong partnership with families. By working closely with you, we can better support your child's unique developmental journey and create a seamless connection between home and school.

Our goal is to offer a home-like environment where your child feels safe, comfortable, and valued. To ensure a smooth transition into our school community, we take great care in learning the small yet meaningful details—your child’s daily routines, eating habits, temperament, recent life changes, and more. These insights help us provide the individualized care and attention your child deserves.

We actively encourage ongoing communication through:

  • Parent-Teacher Conferences
  • Daily check-ins during drop-off and pick-up
  • Scheduled one-on-one meetings, as needed

We are always here to listen, collaborate, and provide guidance.

As part of our commitment to supporting families, we also offer Parent Education Events, where we explore topics such as child development and the principles of the Montessori Method. These gatherings provide valuable tools and insights to help you better understand and support your child's growth at home.

We look forward to welcoming you and your child into our community—and partnering with you every step of the way.
